The trail to Spruce Flats Falls is not one of the more popular hikes in Great Smoky Mountains National Park – in fact, it isn't even shown on the official park map. I was only made aware of it because I knew some people from the area who recommended the trail to me. The hike itself is moderate, and not terribly long, but well worth it. I saw the Falls in the autumn, after many leaves had fallen from the trees – those visible on the ground, but while many more leaves remained green, and on the branches of trees in the area.
