Ferhadija street, Sarajevo BiH

The most attractive street in Sarajevo is certainly Ferhadija – the popular walking street which stretches from Vječna Vatra to Slatko Ćoše, where it meets Sarači St.

Once you leave the oriental allure of Sarači and step onto Ferhadija, you’ll find yourself surrounded by buildings which were erected during the period of Austro-Hungarian rule, giving you the feeling that you have stepped back into another time.

Ferhadija’s origins date back to the 16th century and its name comes from the mahala which formed around the mosque built by the Bosnian Sanjak Bey, Ferhat Bey Vuković Desisalić.
