The South Korean island of Jeju is basically an inactive volcano that has risen out of the sea. Because of its volcanic nature, there are a significant number of lava tubes of varying sizes scattered across the island. The Manjanggul Lava Tube, which stretches almost 9km (approximately 5.5 miles) in length, and at its greatest height reaches 30 meters (100 feet) is one of several that are open to the public.
