Monastery Ravanica monastery in Serbia and is located at the foot of Kučajske Mountains, near the village Senje at Cuprija. Ravanica was founded by Prince Lazar, who was killed in the Battle of Kosovo on Vidovdan, June 28 in 1389.
The church is dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord, and surrounded by a solid defensive wall with seven towers. Ravanica was built between 1375 and 1377, and the frescoes were painted several years before the Battle of Kosovo. At the founder's composition, in addition to Prince Lazar and Princess Milica of their sons Stefan and Vuk.
