The Jasmund peninsula is a geologically young landscape. The development process began about 12,000 years ago with the end of Weichseleiszeit that left a young moraine landscape here. By defrost ice lifted the land underneath and valleys were filled with water, the predecessor of the later Baltic Sea, the Ancylus Lake originated. So only remained outstanding ridge as islands exist.....
