The New Castle, Banská Štiavnica , Slovakia

This castle was built in 16th century to defend the richest city of golden and silver mines in Austrian-Hungarian empire from the Turkish army. It may be surprising but this town was never conquered during the entire 150-year Turkish presence in the Hungarian Kingdom. Astonishing piece of history.
