Eiffel Tower or the Eiffel Tower (franc. La Tour Eiffel) is a metal tower built on the Field of Mars in Paris (France) and is a landmark and symbol of Paris. It was built in 1889 as a showpiece for the World's Fair to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution. Until 1930 it was the largest building in the world with its 300 meters height. Named after the engineer who designed the Gustave Eiffel (franc. Gustave Eiffel). Today is a major tourist attraction with over 5.5 million visitors a year.
