The golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is a large bird of prey in the family Accipitridae (Accipitridae). Golden Eagle colonize open and semi-open landscapes throughout the Holarctic. They feed mostly by midsize-dwelling mammals. The species was once widespread in Europe, but was systematically pursued so that it occurs today in many parts of Europe only in mountainous regions. In Germany, the golden eagle nest only in the Alps.
