Prayer Wheel Macaques

Kathmandu is a one-of-a-kind city. Many people I've met who have been there didn't like the city because of how dirty it is. Personally, I loved Kathmandu. I took this photo at Swayambhunath, affectionately and appropriately called "Monkey Temple," because of the hundreds -maybe even thousands - of monkeys that inhabit the grounds. Located on a hill west of the center of Kathmandu, one must climb 365 steps to reach the main level of the complex. The monkeys, which varied from cute and curious to frightening and aggressive, were one of the highlights of my visit to Swayambhunath.  Here we see a mother and her young sitting atop a row of Buddhist prayer wheels.
