Pink Flower Closeup

Check out my blog at www.fotoinusgrobler.com

The next two photos of another cactus and the photo of a pink rose was also taken at the plant nursery using the same technique.
It is a very easy technique to use and does not require much equipment. All you need (except the camera of coarse) is a macro lens, an external flash and a mini softbox. I used a LumiQuest Soft Box: http://store.lumiquest.com/lumiquest-softbox/. Any softbox will work but the fact that this softbox is small makes it easy to place it very close to the lens. With macro photography there is not much space to put the light otherwise the lens is in the way of the light source leading to all sorts of problems. In a later post I will talk about the relative distance of a softbox to the subject and the effect it has in a photo.

This photo was taken in June 2014 with a Canon 5D MkIII and TAMRON SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Macro.

Camera Settings: f/16.0, 1/200 seconds and ISO 100
