Knossos (Κνωσός), Europe's-oldest-city

Knossos was the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. The great palace was built between 1700 and 1400 BC.

The archaeological site is located 6km from Heraklion.

Minoan civilization. A civilization that was possibly the most Advanced, Civilized and Cultured. No raving war-conquering mad-kings and rulers around there ! :-)
