Badwater Basin by Moonlight

Death Valley National Park's Badwater Basin lies at an elevation of 282 feet below sea level, making it one of the lowest above-ground points on Earth. Unusual freeze-thaw and evaporation cycles cause the formation of the hexagonal salt formations seen in the foreground of this photo. I took this photo at night, when the flats were illuminated by a nearly full moon.
