Budva is a coastal town on the Adriatic coast in Montenegro. The area around the city, along the coast, is known as the Budva Riviera. Riviera is the center of Montenegro's tourism, and is known for its sandy beaches and nightlife. The most famous beach is Mogren Budva. In 2010 the municipality of Budva was 557,000 guests with 3.4 million overnight stays, which makes Budva the most popular tourist destination in Montenegro.
Important tourist facilities are located within the Venetian walls of the 15th century, which surrounds the Old Town of Budva. The old city was badly damaged in the devastating earthquake in 1979, but has been completely renovated. Eight years ago the last major renovation of the old city. Budva has repeatedly changed masters, but no longer are in the city held by the Venetians and Austrians, who left the city in 1918.
