Prut is a 953 km long river, which flows near Mount Hoverla in Wooded Carpathians in Ukraine, from flowing eastward, much of the course is then southeasterly direction. Flows into the Danube near Reni, east of Galaţi. Forming the border between Romania and Moldova and partly with Ukraine. In the interwar period, the river was navigable up to Ungheni, but during the communist navigation on the river was gradually abandoned during the exceeding greatness being maintained. The main tributaries on the right are Ceremuş, Başeu and Jijia (main tributary Bahlui). There is a facility on the Prut River hydropower (dam of Rock-Costesti) made with the Soviet Union (now Moldova).
