Kodomo no Hi (Children's Day)

On Children's day, May 5 (Kodomo no Hi) in Japan, there is a tradition where we put up Koinobori (Carp-streamers)! The reason why it's a fish is because (according to wikipedia), the carp is considered a 'spirited fish', full of energy and power that it can fight it's way upstream no matter the obstacles. Its strength and courage stood for courage and the ability to attain high goals, which is why they flew these up to honor their children.
