The Kapok is the tallest tree in the Amazon rainforest. It can grow up to 200 feet tall and the trunk can become more then 9 feet in diameter. The tree produces seed pods that contain silky material . This "silk floss" is light and fluffy and also water resistant.For many years it was used for stuffing in life jackets and other products.
