McCay Vernon, A Pioneer in Deaf Education

McCay Vernon passed away August 28th, 2013.
ASL Rose regards Vernon as one of the important heroes and hearing allies in Deaf education, because he was the one who did not believe that Deaf people were stupid or unintelligent simply because their ears did not work. Additionally, Vernon was also directly responsible for the quality and expansion of McDaniel College deaf education program. He pulled Deaf students in the graduate program, and set up a curriculum for its deaf education program and made sure there were interpreters available for Deaf students. McCay Vernon was ahead of his time and his absence will be missed. You can read the article about him at this link: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/obituaries/bs-md-obit-vernon-20130902-story.html
