Himalayan Alpenglow

The Everest Base Camp trek can take anywhere from a few days, if one flies into Lukla, to several months or more, if one elects to trek in from further out, and adds extensions and side trips to the typical route. I spent 35 days on the trek, and took this photo on my seventh day in, from the village of Chheplung, at an elevation of 2,660 meters (8,625 feet). I spent ten more days trekking before I reached Everest Base Camp, and at the time I took this shot, I hadn't yet even seen the world's highest peak.
