The Parthenon is a temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, the patron of Athens, built in the 5th century, p. n. e. Acropolis. It is the most preserved building of classical style, which is considered the pinnacle of development Doric style. Its decorative sculptures are among the most important works of ancient Greek art. The Parthenon is regarded as a permanent symbol of Ancient Greece and of Athenian democracy, and is one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. The Greek Ministry of Culture is currently implementing a project of restoration and reconstruction.
