Biomass (eng. Biomass, German. Biomass) refers to a living or recently a living matter, plant or animal origin, which can be used as fuel or for industrial production. The most commonly used directly in the final consumption of energy for heating, cooking and hot water, but can also be used to produce electricity and heat, and has recently been increasingly used for biofuel production. It can also be used in industry for the production of fibers and chemicals.
