Over 40 petroglyph sites have been recorded in this area, but most of these sites are small with only a few dozen petroglyphs. The Painted Rock Site is the largest known site with close to 1000 images. The Native American Hohokam people once lived and farmed in this area from ~ 350 -1400 C.E.
Even under half moonlight, and eventually complete darkness... this place is incredible. I'm glad it's being preserved. If you visit, please be respectful.
